Nightingale

A few years ago, I had to give up painting in oil because the paints triggered ocular migraines. Every painting session ended with me lying on the couch feeling like I was on a bad acid trip. Not fun. Then I learned about M. Graham odourless paints. These paints are a game changer for me along with Gamblin Solvent Free Gel (thanks Jeff Jordan). As a result, I’ve been able to gradually introduce some oil painting back into my art production and recently I’ve used it for a few book covers.

The painting below isn’t a cover, it’s a small personal work called “Nightingale”. It’s one of 3, 8” pieces a roughed out last summer. The reference I used was a nightingale’s egg. This is is very much a work in progress. I’ll share updates as I go along. As soon as I can share those cover I will!
