I finally finished The Whispering Wind. Many, many hours of tiny brushstrokes went into this piece, which is my favorite of 2013, so far. The title is from Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven:

Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know,
The piper’s calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

It’s not meant to illustrate the song but rather to express the mystery inherent in it. The title is a departure point for the piece.

The Whispering Wind is not for sale – it is heading off to Denmark – however I will probably do a print of it in 2014, maybe for next year’s Fan Expo in Toronto.

– Richard.
