This is another acrylic ink vignette. I love the rich green in this one. This piece is actually inspired by my dog Molly (a golden retriever) who likes to lie in my studio like this. I re-imagined her as a mysterious mythological creature resting on the forest floor. Please note that this work is sold.

I love this piece but don't know anything about the artist. Thought I'd share some random inspiration.

Air & Water

I like to keep my macro lens close to hand for shots like these. These were a couple of air plants that were put in a bowl of water in the sunlight. After a few hours the surface of the plants became covered in tiny bubbles. - Richard

Silverpoint

A BIG thanks to Hi Fructose Magazine for featuring my work on their website today. What an amazing start to Victoria Day! I mentioned yesterday that I was working on some silverpoint miniatures. I thought I'd share some shots off my drawing table. The pictures are a bit grainy but I took them in the... Continue Reading →

Symphonist #1

It's nice to get back to silverpoint after some months spent working in other mediums. The Symphonists is a series of silverpoint miniatures that I am doing for a friend/ collector on a subscription basis. Essentially, one drawing will be mailed to him monthly until the series of 8 is complete. Richard.

New Website

My website has become a little bit of a challenge to navigate over the last few years. This is the result of bolting on pages while dealing with deadlines and real life. Today I decided to start from scratch and I have produced a new site here. The old site will remain in place, as... Continue Reading →

Drowned Library

This is a work in progress scan of a new piece called The Drowned Library. I may be channeling a little bit of J. G. Ballard here with a dash of Borges. It is a commission piece and I’m enjoying a return to technical pen pointillism after a few weeks of working exclusively with brush... Continue Reading →
