Dance of Spring

Dance of Spring, 2023, graphite on paper, 10″ x 10″

A small drawing completed a few days ago. Where I am in Ontario, Spring has been slow in coming and the sky has been very grey. With luck, the sun will soon come from behind the clouds and things will warm up. Regardless, things are starting to grow and the birds have returned in force. This piece was drawn in graphite—Blackwing 602 for those interested in such details—on a stray piece of heavy, lightly textured watercolour paper. I keep a folder of such scraps for smaller works. The piece below was made the same way, with the addition of charcoal in the darkest areas.
