Key Bearer & Petals

For the past few weeks I have been busy in the studio working on some new pieces. The pictures below are my most recent works and both are available in my Big Cartel webstore.

Key Bearer, 2024, silverpoint, 12″x9″

Key Bearer is a new silverpoint drawing executed on acid free hotpress illustration board. In this scan, you can see where the piece has already started to tarnish. If you look carefully, you can see how I progressed through the drawing, completing the branches first, moving to the key, the figure’s head and then working my way down the body. In time, the whole drawing will be the same value as the branches.

Petals, 2024, ink, 14″x16″

Petals is a new ink drawing, which I just finished yesterday. I have always loved drawing trees. This one has three faces. Can you spot them? Petals is an elaboration of a sketchbook drawing I did a while ago. The sketch was done with a Staedtler fineliner, but the finished piece was done with a .25 Rotring rapidograph.
