I finished a new water colour and ink piece this week called Aqueous Humor. I drew the image in ink on 140lb Arches hot press paper with a dip pen and tinted it with water colour washes. There are a couple of process shots below, taken with my iPhone. The Arches paper is perfect for ink work, offering just enough resistance to the pen nib. It also took the washes very well. The piece incorporates some of my favourite themes: decaying technology and fantastical natural settings. At the time of writing, Aqueous Humor is available in my Big Cartel shop along with many other recent studio works.
This week, I am going to divide my time between a couple of new silverpoints for the Conspiracy Series (see my previous post) and the draft of my current novella in progress. Could be tricky with the garden coming to life! I would love to get the novella more or less done so that I can decide what I want to do about the illustrations. At this time, I am eyeing the fall for publication via my imprint Radiolaria Studios, but I’ll keep this blog updated with progress and some teaser text/ images.
